What independence Day is for us

​July 4, 1776 - A day 246 years ago fifty six men signed a declaration stating no governing body shall have more power than it's people and that all men are created equal.  A land of opportunity was born that day. It gave people the opportunity to fight for themselves and against injustices. It made the United States a leading nation for a free world.

Our obligation on this day, as well as everyday, is to understand its meaning and true origin rather than what we perceive it to be in our modern world.

As citizens of the United States, a day of independence deemed the 4th of July is a day we should all celebrate joyfully with gratitude in our hearts for those who stood up to the injustices and publicized them in 1776.  A group of men with opinions that differed from one another agreed on something that would become what we have today.  A nation of men who then sacrificed and suffered so much loss giving life and limb for a belief of greater purpose. Generations of men to follow who gave their lives, leaving loved ones behind protecting the freedoms of this great nation. 

We cannot stop planting trees.  We cannot stop valuing the trees so many have planted before us.
